If we wind the clock back by just 6 months, the front pages were not exclusive to the reporting and analysis of global COVID-19 statistics and initiatives. Headlines were, instead, angled towards the accelerated drive to address climate change, plastic waste and other critical environmental issues. Whether it was the impassioned speech from Greta Thunberg or our continued pollution of the world’s oceans, the environment was on everyone’s mind.

The renewables sector has always been an area that I have followed closely and I have been fortunate to be in support of many technologies, projects and businesses.
My experience and interest within the renewables sector started 15 years ago when I worked as the recruitment partner for one of the first large-scale domestic EFW projects in the UK. I was responsible for all contract and permanent resources from Planning, Project Controls, Engineering, Construction and Commissioning. Following handover, the plant processes 850,000 tpa of refuse that would otherwise be sent to landfill and now generates up to 560 GWH or electricity; enough to power the site and 150,000 homes.
My latest energy from waste project is with a renewable technology and engineering company. My client is involved in the design, development, engineering and construction of modular high temperature pyrolysis (HTP) plants to reduce the environmental impact of waste whilst producing clean energy.
Until recently, this technology was not fully developed and proven. Due to the changes in environmental policy (including the 2030 climate and energy framework), the availability of government funding plus the growing pressure on companies to become carbon neutral, HTP projects, and many like it, are attaining approval.
Howl Resources has recently placed contract and permanent resources with Project Engineering, Project Management and Construction Management for EFW projects in mainland Europe and the UK. (all positions working from home during lockdown measures).
I would be keen to speak with any individuals with significant EFW experience for this, and future, EFW projects.
I would also be keen to speak with Investors and Project Owners within this sector so that I can share my experience and network to offer value from both manpower and supply chain perspectives.
